I applaud your sentiments and am certain that its use should be kept to the minimum but an all out ban is not feasible. I think it is used in making pipelines for water etc., which I think is a good thing. It is fast, fairly cheap and quite long lasting and easy to handle. If we can come up with something better then a ban would make sense and I will lead the protest.

I agree with the ban on the use of plastic bags. I think more and more people are becoming aware of the issues of the plastic bags which is good. I see more people using reusable bags and more stores which do not offer plastic bags anymore. It's good and positive effort by your NGO Group, All the best...

We know usage of polythene is has become a major threat to the environment. Of all the common & daily resources polythene has become a mojor threat as it EFFECTs environment. You see every common resource would be disposed off and decomposed in the environment by the help of sun, earth, rain and other factors. But we know this polythene, it cannot be disposable by itself with the means of the common factors of the earth even for as long as more then100 years even though under intense heat. More over one way of disposing off polythene is by burning it which results in the releasing of poisonous gases which causes cancer and effect the environment and also the life on the planet.

I like the idea you’re trying to save the earth! Here are some tips!
Always turn off the water, or lights when you aren’t using it, if the water from the sink or the shower leaks, try to stop the leaks. Draw or write on both sides of paper and recycle it

It's good effort by your organisation . Don’t forget to play outside once a day if it’s not raining, & love and enjoy the wonderful earth you live in! PS: If you want to help more, turn off the TV, and the computer when not in use! Also Reduce the amount of things that you use and reuse things like plastic bottles! Other tips are listed above.

Hi I was just reading the “How Can We Help Save The Earth?” colomn that I found as a match searching for ways to help the enviornment. Organisation efferts are so good. Kids are doing realy good.I think that this a great website that tells a lot about ways to help. Thanks for posting it!

Another very simple thing is using the dustbins. In my day to day life i regularly see people donot care to throw wastes in a dustbin. Even if the dustbin is just somewhere nearby, people donot care to look for it. I have seen this happening on a large scale at a place near my home, almost 90% people were eating from a roadside shop and were throwing away the plates here and there even though two dust bins were kept just nearby.

wow!! this is really a great attempt.
Educating students about hazards of plastic bags and the reflection of their imagination in these drawings is really great.
Such attempts really make them think and leaves an impact about hazards of polythene bags because they have spent quite a lot of effort to imagine and draw these drawings.
Hope such events are carried out on a much larger scale in every school...

So, what are the alternatives that are as cheap as plastic bags but environmental friendly?
From our side the best we can do is carry our own bags when going to market and never accept any plastic bags from shops. This way we need not put the blame on others and make some real effort from our side

Here are some ideas on how you can do your part to help save the earth!
* Recycle, recycle, and recycle. If we all do a small part, like turning the water off when we’re brushing our teeth or clean out a jar of jelly and keep loose change in it or just turning off the lights in rooms that no one is in or maybe ridding a bike to school/work and if you’re not a fan of biking, make a carpool with your friends! There are still more that a billion ways to save the planet, and if you want to see your own children grow up on this earth, just do a small part, just a tinny little part once every day and if everyone else does too, slowly but surly, we’ll save the planet!
* Preserve habitats! Stop bulldozing land for parking lots and shopping malls!
